Then this happened.
It got quite bad. It was literally inches away from getting inside. We panicked a bit.
Luckily there's some amazing and helpful people in this village. We all got our brooms and with teamwork we pushed the water to the drains and away from the house. Everything (well, everything except our feet, shoes and clothes) was much drier in no time!
I thought they should have a swimming pool here, but I guess it's a little bit inconvenient to have one in the middle of the street. So we worked our hardest to get the water to the drains and now it looks pretty much normal.
I was soaked when I got back inside, but I don't know how much of it was rain water and how much of it was sweat... It's hard work! Rather ironically I had a bath straight after.
Apparently nothing like this has ever happened in this village. I'm just glad I wasn't alone when the water started rising. In the end sweeping the water with our brooms was actually kind of fun when our houses weren't anymore in danger.
Many thanks to everyone who helped.
